TURN IT UP!
DJ WAVE, pronounced (Wa-Vee), is a UK based DJ that began his career in late 2016. Primarily getting into his passion as a side gig, the young DJ went from his first set with a thrown-out mixer board and a bluetooth speaker to some of the biggest sold-out crowds at local venues.
BOSS Marketing's main goal? Establish a brand identity for the growing DJ that would allow the musician to take his game to the next octave.
We needed to not only create an identity that worked with how the DJ currently works but one that would grow alongside his brand!
Establish a long-lasting identity that highlights the key attributes of the growing DJ.
A new logo and brand materials that lets DJ WAVE TURN IT UP!
THE FIRST VERSE
The project began after back and forth conversations between BOSS Marketing Designer, MaKyle Mares, and DJ WAVE, Ahmed Wave.
Eyes quickly glazed over, reminiscing over backstories, the passion for the music, and many more insights. Yet, once we got past the DJ jargon a clear understanding of what the brand needed to become came in the form of the audience experience.
FINDING THE BEAT
Based on user profiles in addition to a breakdown of the audience experience, the tone of the brand "Abstract Retro Fluid" was set to be aesthetically created in visual graphics. Working with the tone, the initial design is based on insight from how DJ Wave works.
"Starting out, I couldn't get an actual DJ Board. So I found a studio mixer board that was thrown out and modified it. I still use it to this day, with every slider and knob being mixed and matched."

SETTING THE CHORUS
Once the identity of the brand was established, we worked to adpat it to a number of collateral touchpoints. Ranging from branded apparel, to custom backgrounds and event banners.
Part of being a DJ is creating an experience. The identity needed to be a part of that experience. So we implemented the identity into the performance by making the logo react to audio, introducing it into the performance as a participant and not just a static mark.
